Green Rock Trail - Eureka/Wildwood, MO
Tried to run out for a hike on a sunny 70degree February day and was greeted with a relatively short but sunny hike. It was turning out to be a good day out on the trail until not one, but two little girls decided to introduce their knees to the sharp stones along the path. After MB got a pretty sizeable gash, we decided to head back after just .75miles on the trail.
Green Rock trail is a 13-16 mile trail (found several estimates of length) that runs through Greensfelder, Rockwoods Reservation and Rockwoods Range Natural Areas. Not sure about the full length of the trail but I've got to think the trail is named after the many moss covered boulders that dot the landscape.
I was hoping to get in a 3-4 mile hike since we were starting so late in the afternoon.
Shortly after the peek-a-boo photo, AK took a small tumble. I actually think the Band-Aid on her knee save her from a couple additional scrapes. Within 60 seconds of AK going down, MB tripped and did a bit more damage to her leg. Luckily - I had brought along a very simple first aid kit, which I've never brought on a hike before, so we were able to clean it up while sitting the girls on a nearby stump. Pretty sure that I got the most exercise today, as I carried a 3yr old on part of the way out, and a 7yr old on my shoulders most of the way back.
The trail may have gotten the better of us today, but we will be back!
HAPPY TRAILS!!!
